Work Experience

Medford Vocational Technical High School , August 2018– Present

Hired as a co-teacher in the Robotics & Engineering shop. Duties included providing curriculum related to CAD, CAM, and machining. This curriculum was intertwined with coding and circuitry. Recently received a Capital Skills grant for $300,000 for machinery and tools to upgrade our classroom to a new 5,000 sf space.

Boston Plan for Excellence, Boston, Massachusetts, March 2018– August 2018

This role as STEM Careers Pathway Specialist allowed me to work with schools and industry to help place students into quality STEM summer internships. The goal was to provide 40 students from 4 different Boston schools placed into internships, and to provide support structures to help them achieve success throughout the summer. This was a 6 month contract.

CBT Architects, Boston, Massachusetts, October 2016– March 2018

Worked at CBT with the Academic group. Have Projects included multiple interior renovations at Boston College,  a Housing Masterplan at Babson College, and many other jobs at higher education facilities. Responsibilities include CAD and Construction Administration for projects.

Brophy College Preparatory, Phoenix, Arizona, June 2011 – June 2016

Was initially hired by Brophy as a faculty member in the Fine Arts Department, and Assistant Coach of the Varsity Soccer team. Since then, I wrote a grant to bring 3D printing to campus, and developed an Art & Technology class based on ideas surrounding the ‘Maker Movement’, which looks to empower students with skills of coding, CAD, and circuitry. The popularity of the class resulted in the school renovating its 11,000 sf library to make way for a maker space with laser cutters, CNC router, 3D printers, to helps students make just about anything. The space sees over 200 students move through it daily. Additionally, had 3 season as the Head Varsity Soccer Coach, earning 1 state championship.

The Construction Zone, Phoenix, Arizona, June 2010 – June 2011

Worked as a Construction Manager for the Desert Courtyard House, designed by Wendell Burnette. The day to day tasks were to manage the construction site, mediate between designers, fabricators, and workers, as well as create shop drawings. In certain instances, some minor construction work was also done. The house was on its 7th year of construction, and the job was nearing completion when I left the company.

Ayers Saint Gross, Architects + Planners, Tempe, ArizonaIntern Architect, June 2007 – May 2009

Worked as an intern architect for nearly two years with the firm. Used a variety of programs and worked on projects from campus planning at NAU to a museum in Saudi Arabia. Based out of Baltimore, the firm opened a Tempe office in 2004. I spent one summer working out of the DC office on the Saudi Arabia museum project and the rest of the time in the Phoenix office. Responsibilities included site visits, CAD/Revit drafting, planning, graphic design, marketing, and more.

Jorge Mario Jauregui, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Intern, Summer 2005

Was one of a handful of interns working in the office for the summer. Most of the projects dealt with the favelas of Rio, rehabilitating these poor communities through modern urbanization projects. Responsibilities included site visits, sketches and CAD work, model building, and translation. This was a unique work environment, as the office spoke 4 different languages on a daily basis.

Digital Fabrication | Have built my own personal 3D Printer, and am familiar with how the machines work. Helped to bring 3D printing to the campus of Brophy College Preparatory, and resin printing to Medford Vocational Technical High School. In addition to 3D printing, I have worked with Epilog laser systems, 60-120 watts large format 3’x4’, and Bantam Tools PCB mills.

Machining | Over the last 3 years I have taught and maintained several CNC routers, mills, and lathes, as well as plasma cutter and water jet.

Computer Drafting | AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe In Design, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, OnShape, Fusion 360

Graphic Design | Designed the logo for Bosom Buddies, an Arizona breast cancer survivors group (2009) and the logo, stationary and business cards for Design Plastering (2012), a stucco and plastering business in Mesa, Arizona.

Interests

Making | Supporter of the Maker Movement and DIY culture. Believe in the motto, ‘If you can’t fix it, you don’t own it.’

Soccer | During college, was a 4 year letterman in soccer, the team received a #1 ranking during each season. Played professionally in Iceland (2001). Assistant coach, Brophy College Preparatory 2003-2013, Head Coach 2013-2016.

Space | Created and moderated the SPACE (Student Planetary Astronomy and Cosmology Enthusiasts) Club on Brophy’s campus, bringing together students who share a love for looking up at the night sky. Grew the club from 4 students to well over 30.

Aviation |  Received my private pilots license in 2019 and am pursuing my instrument rating. Member of the South Shore Flying Club.
