Spotify

I had a rather strange first world problem today. I’ve recently begun using Spotify more often because it is linked to me new Tesla. I added several BBC podcasts as well as This American Life to my Spotify account, but when I tried to listen to them through the Spotify app in my Tesla, all the episodes were greyed out. On my other devices, my desktop and phone, the episodes show up normally and play without issue.

So, I contacted Spotify to see what is happening. Not sure they totally understood the issue, but after a lot of explaining, this was the response.

Somehow the Spotify app in a Tesla does not have the rights to certain podcasts. Spotify suggested that I contact Tesla regarding the issue, but I told them the car works just fine, it’s Spotify that seems to be having the issues. For now, I can listen to those greyed out podcasts using the TuneIn app in the Tesla. A minor annoyance, but curious now about how licensure agreements work for Spotify.

Road Trip Rain

Ash and I took a short road trip to Norwood this afternoon to help create some party gifts for an event Ash is hosting for work. We took the Tesla, obviously, and were able to give it a longer workout with regard to Autopilot. On our way home there was a pretty torrential downpour in addition to heavy Boston traffic. You will never want to be in traffic again without Autopilot. The Tesla handles the stop and go flawlessly, and makes sitting behind other cars almost fun. It really takes the annoyance of sitting in traffic away, and even with the heavy rain it had no issues staying in its lane or recognizing cars changing lanes directly in front of us. It was pretty impressive to watch.

Simon

Well, it was delivery day today!

I took delivery of my MY this morning in Peabody, MA. A slight issue arose this morning when driving there I noticed somebody sideswiped my trade-in and left some sort of rubber mark all down the passenger side of the car. Luckily, no denting and I was able to spend about 30 minutes getting the rubber (or whatever it was) off the car. Found part of a side mirror cover near my vehicle.

It was very cold today, so I took a rather quick look around the vehicle when I arrived, and then sat inside and played around with things. The car was unlocked before I accepted delivery, which was nice. It looked beautiful, and everything looked in order. The whole process took about an hour, which included me inspecting the car, them working on my trade-in (took them about 20 mins to get the front plates off of it for some reason), and then waiting for registration. One of the Tesla workers got in the car with me and answered all my questions, then put on my license plate and I drove away. Very easy, just wish the weather was a bit nicer.

Afterwards, Ash and I drove to Marblehead for a quick lunch and then headed back home. We continued to play around with the car features. I spent some more time sitting in the car and setting things up when we got home, but eventually had to stop and join a Zoom meeting. Setup the car to be ready to go at 5:45 am tomorrow, so we will see how that goes.

Backdrop

Ash worked on the backdrop behind our bed all weekend, installing these panels she purchased. Right now there is some fairly ugly wood paneling behind our headboard, and now we have a nice modern touch with these raised white panels. There is still some work to be done, but it’s clearly a huge improvement. An in progress photo below.

I spent the afternoon working on meeting agendas for the OHNC and ordering a few items for the new Tesla that is coming in a week. I ordered a SSD in order to utilize Sentry mode as well as a license plate holder. Tesla give you a license plate holder that attaches to the front of the car with 3M tape. Not sure I like that idea. The holder I purchased utilizes the hardware provided by Tesla, but allows it to lock to the front bumper and is easily removable.

Delivery

So, the Tesla news got better this weekend as I received notification to schedule delivery. I chose the first available date from the list presented to me, which was March 22nd. The text also let you know it was a tentative date, as it could get pushed further out or closer in depending on the logistics of arrival of the vehicle at the delivery center. I’ve made sure that everything is in order on my end regarding insurance, trade-in, etc. The Tesla app on my phone says everything is up to date, so now just waiting for delivery day to arrive.

Ash and I were supposed to go to Mystic, CT today, but the weather was quite poor, so we decided against traveling. Stayed at home and watched the rainy day go by.
