Yard Work

No work today in order to recognize the Juneteenth holiday. I realized at the last moment that I had scheduled the OHNC meeting for today, so quickly sent out messages that it is moved to tomorrow. I spent a good portion of the day doing yard work. It’s been a while since I’ve cleaned up the front and back yards, so this was a well overdue task. We decided to be a bit looser with the yard plant life this summer, and it looks nice and green at the moment. We’ll see how that progresses as the summer wears on. The garbage trucks did not pick up some shelving we had put out the other day, so we have left it out there with a sign saying ‘missed pickup’. Hopefully, nobody calls the city to give us a ticket. Made plans to pick up our new Frenchie on July 3rd. I’ll fly out and stay the night, then come back on the 4th. It was really the only way to make it happen. Excited to meet the little guy.

Vintage Antique Market

After working out this morning, Ash and I went into the city. We were a bit hungry and stopped at the HubHall in the Boston Garden for some food. This type of venue is rather popular now in Boston, I know of at least 3 or 4 throughout the city. Basically, they are food courts that feature local restaurants and pubs. We decided on a ramen place called Momosan. I had a spicy ramen dish that was quite good, and Ash had some dumplings. I would definitely go back. We walked to the Antique market but did not find anything we needed, so we headed back into Boston. We stopped at the Pine Bar in the Boston Public Market for a drink. Both bartenders were from Eastie, and one lived in Orient Heights. The Public Market has needed a bar for a while, so its nice to finally have a place for a drink in there.

Plane Washing

This morning I drove to Marshfield for the annual plane washing for the South Shore Flying Club. It’s always nice to meet the other pilots and clean our airplanes. I spent all my time with 4CA. After a wash and wax the airplane really looks great, and I bet we picked up a few knots airspeed! Here are a few photos from the day.

Ferg

Today we picked up Ferg from the PetsVet in the West End. Their office is actually located right around the corner from where I worked as an architect with CBT. He was packaged in a small wood box with decorative carvings on top, and the box had been placed into a velvet bag. They also provided a stamp of his paw print. We decided to take a walk and ended up in the North End. Walking around we saw that Monica’s, one of our favorite places to eat, was not that busy, so we grabbed a seat at the bar and had a lovely dinner in honor of Ferg. He is now up on our shelf with the rest of our past pups.

Additionally, I put down a deposit on a new Frenchie this afternoon. Not sure of when we will actually get the little guy, but he is located in Florida, near Fort Lauderdale.

Work Out

This morning I went into the city with Ash. She went to Btone to workout and I headed over to a nearby athletic field in the North End and did a workout there. It was right on the water with the USS Constitution in the background. Pretty nice venue for a morning workout. My calves are still far from 100%, but I was able to get through a fitness session going very slowly. Afterwards, Ash and I took the train across the harbor and got out at Maverick and walked to the EBO Grocery store for some grilling items and oysters, and then walked back home. Ash spent the rest of the day working on the downstairs area, and I watched some F1 racing and did some work on the computer. Still waiting on news about the new French Bulldog.
